A safety drill will be held at Inderkum High School on Thursday morning to demonstrate the dangers of drinking and driving.

As part of the exercise, titled “Every 15 Minutes,” emergency vehicles and a medical helicopter will be sent to Inderkum, but no real emergency exists. The drill is meant to remind students that driving impaired can be devastating to themselves, their families, and their community.

Right before the drill, Inderkum will conduct a lockdown, about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Inderkum is working with the California Highway Patrol and Sacramento Police Department to provide the “Every 15 Minutes” safety drill.

Thursday’s event will include emergency responses from the California Highway Patrol, Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento City Fire Department, Sacramento State ambulace, Lombard funeral home, LJ’s tow truck company, and Cal Star helicopters.

“Every 15 Minutes” is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

So remember: Don’t be alarmed by the sight or sound of emergency vehicles near Inderkum on Thursday morning. They’re included in the exercise – but it’s only a drill. “Every 15 Minutes” is part of our continuing effort to enhance student safety.

If you have questions about Thursday’s drill, please call Inderkum’s main office at 567-5640.
