That new flag you’ll see waving outside Two Rivers Elementary School was awarded Monday (June 9) to Principal Leslie Sargent by state Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson in honor of the school's selection as a California Distinguished School. The award goes annually to California’s most exemplary and innovative public schools for helping to close the achievement gap while providing educational excellence to all students. Pictured at the awards ceremony in Sacramento are, from left, Two Rivers teacher Colleen Perry, District Trustee Teri Burns, Torlakson, Sargent, and Dave Gordon, Sacramento County superintendent of schools. ... Smiles all around ... And much pride ... For good reason.
