Newly named principals at Witter Ranch Elementary School and Leroy Greene Academy will meet, greet and answer questions of parents, students and community members at their respective campuses Tuesday night, August 5.

Both gatherings are designed as a way for Patrick Birdsong and Dr. Kristen Coates to introduce themselves to campus families and the Natomas community before classes begin August 13 for the new school year.

Birdsong will discuss his plans for Witter Ranch from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday at the elementary school campus, 3790 Poppy Hill Way. He replaces Principal Julia True, who retired after a 15-year career with Natomas Unified.

Dr. Coates’ meet-and-greet  is planned from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at LGA, 2950 W. River Dr. She replaces Principal Angela Herrera, who was named a Natomas Unified Director of School Leadership and Support.

Birdsong served last year as principal of Pioneer School, a K-8 campus in Twin Rivers Unified School District. His career includes stints as principal of schools in Sacramento, Fair Oaks and San Francisco.

Dr. Coates comes to Leroy Greene Academy from the neighboring Sacramento City Unified School District. She has spent the past six years in Education Administration, including positions as SCUSD Student Outcomes Coordinator, SCUSD Evaluation Coordinator, and as principal of Ps7 Middle School, which is part of St. HOPE Public Schools in Sacramento.
