They're standout kids, all of them, selected by their teachers and honored Wednesday night by the Board of Trustees.

More than 150 students and hundreds of parents, relatives and friends packed the Inderkum High School bleachers for the Board Ceremony, in which honorees received a certificate and a small prize for their achievement.

Wednesday marked the climax of a process that began when teachers at each school, and each grade level, were asked to pinpoint students who demonstrate Natomas Unified's Vision that, "All NUSD students graduate as college and career ready, productive, responsible and engaged global citizens."

Honorees could have demonstrated outstanding qualities in academic performance, leadership, arts, community service, personal responsibility or in any other matter exemplifying NUSD's Vision. From teacher nominations, principals selected 10 to 20 students per campus to attend Wednesday's event. Winners reflected diversity not only in race, gender and age, but also in the various ways they stand out in class and on campus.

Look closely at the photo below of NUSD's outstanding 'Vision' students and potential leaders of tomorrow. Do you recognize any of them?
