NP3 is participating in a field test of a modern assessment system designed to help shape teaching and learning in the classroom. These tests are aligned to the Common Core State Standards, which California adopted in 2010 and will replace the CST/STAR testing. This year gives your student an opportunity to try out the new system without consequences - scores will not be captured this year. Instead, we will use what we learn from this field test to help ensure a successful full launch of the system in the 2014-15 school year. Our next step in the transition is to administer the field test to students on the following tentative dates: grade 6 from April 4-11, grade 7 from April 14-18, and grade 8 from April 21-25. In addition to the field test, students in grade 8 will also continue the California state test for science. If you want to see what types of questions students will be asked on the field test or how the test will be presented, there is a practice test available online at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sa/practicetest.asp. Due to the change with California state testing this year, NP3 Middle will have a change in their calendar. The week of April 21-25 will change from a minimum day week to a regular school week, to accommodate for time necessary for student testing (April 24th is still an early out Thursday).
