Elementary School

  • Attend school events with your student
  • Stay in touch with teachers and know what your child is learning about throughout the year
  • Attend Parent University workshops and watch Parent University videos
  • Utilize the Infinite Campus Parent Portal
  • Visit college campuses on family trips
  • Stay connected and engaged with your child’s school — in person, through the school website, and by downloading NUSD’s District and Parent Portal apps

Middle School

  • Attend school events and attend high school selection nights
  • Learn about graduation and A-G requirements 
  • Parent University classes and videos
  • Utilize the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to monitor grades and attendance 
  • Visit college campuses on family trips 
  • Set goals with your student
  • Establish homework routines, and help your student be organized for school
  • Start having your child save for college (529 Plan)
  • Stay connected and engaged with your child’s school — in person, through the school website, and by downloading NUSD’s District and Parent Portal apps

High School

  • Attend Parent University Workshop and watch Parent University videos
  • Utilize the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to monitor grades and attendance 
  • Download NUSD’s District and Parent Portal apps
  • Learn about college assessments like the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and Preliminary SAT (PSAT)
  • Complete the Free Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA) and consider loan and grant options
  • Work with your student to prepare for college applications and application deadlines
  • Plan for college expenses and save money to pay them (529 Plan) 
  • Learn about Career Technical Education opportunities and encourage your student to participate
