Principal’s Corner

Principal Tom Dickinson

July 2019

Welcome back to another amazing year here at American Lakes School (ALS).

I am honored to be the Principal of ALS and to be working in partnership with faculty, community, and families to help prepare all of our students to become college and career ready and lifelong learners. I want to welcome the Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Kindergarten, and all new families to the ALS community.

I have been an educator for the past 20 years beginning on the east coast in Boston, MA, then onto San Francisco and ultimately here in the Sacramento area. I have taught at both the middle and high school levels and have been an administrator for over 6 years. I am looking forward to planting solid roots here at American Lakes School so that we can continue its positive growth. I am looking forward to American Lakes School’s inaugural year of being a K-8 school as well as a STEM school.

I enjoy sports of all kinds, spending time with my wife and children and when possible traveling and camping.

What puts the fire in my soul is seeing the light bulb turn on when a child learns something new, and I know that they have grown mentally, physically, and/or emotionally that day. It is my personal goal to support every teacher at American Lakes School, so they can also experience that fire in their soul.

I am overwhelmingly happy to be an ALS Eagle, and if there is anything I can do to support you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Thomas A. Dickinson
Principal of American Lakes School
