July 2020

Dear American Lakes School Families,

As the proud Principal at American Lakes School, I am extremely excited for the 2020-21 school year. The 2020-21 school year will be the first year of American Lakes being an International Baccalaureate (IB) candidate school and the second year that it will be a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) school. We will also be completing the multi-million dollar construction project that includes new 7th/8th grade classrooms, a new gymnasium, and a full 400 meter track and field. American Lakes School is soaring to new heights.

The American Lakes School community of students, staff and families all strive to support the development and growth of all its students. We understand that we need to develop the whole student including their social-emotional and physical domains as well as their academics. The American Lakes School community strives to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are college and career ready and who will help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

American Lakes School encourages all families to participate in their student’s education. You can do this by being a part of the school’s School Site Council which is made up of parents, teachers and classified employees that work with me to develop, review and evaluate the school improvement programs and school budget. You also can be part of our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)  that advocates for our English learners. Throughout the school year we will provide you with information about these and other opportunities through our school’s website, teacher newsletters, phone calls, and social media.

I am proud to be an American Lakes School Eagle and I am looking forward to working with you and your child so they can reach their ultimate potential. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

GOOOOO Eagles!

Mr. Thomas A. Dickinson
