The Eagles’ new principal is Tom Dickinson, who has more than six years of school administrative experience, came to Natomas Unified as a Principal on Special Assignment, and has served as American Lakes’ interim leader the past few months. His Assistant Principal has not yet been selected.

Mr. Dickinson began his career as a Mathematics teacher at the middle and high school levels, so he brings valuable skills to help American Lakes expand and enhance its projects in STEM, which is short for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Mr. Dickinson is passionate, approachable, and committed to making American Lakes the very best school it can be. A lifelong learner himself, Mr. Dickinson has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master degree’s in Educational Instruction Technology.

His resume includes service implementing California’s content standards, overseeing student academic testing, leading a campus summer school program, and administering discipline and safety programs, among other things.

At Natomas Unified, Mr. Dickinson spearheaded the district’s evaluation, piloting, and adoption of new History and Social Science textbooks earlier this year. He was chosen as American Lakes’ new principal from 17 candidates by an interview team that included five members connected to the school, including teachers, classified staff, and a parent.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Dickinson. Thank you very much.
