Distance Learning Option Not Planned for Fall

We are so thrilled to have our students back on campus 5 days a week for in-person instruction, and we’re glad that we are able to continue offering the distance learning option to families for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year which ends June 10. Beyond that, there is no indication from the state that distance learning will continue to be allowed in response to the COVID pandemic. All indications at this time show that schools will be back to in-person instruction solely in the fall.

Secondary in-person return is nearing

We are getting one step closer to reopening for secondary grades (6-12). On Friday afternoon, we learned that Sacramento County may be moving into the red tier on Tuesday, March 16, the tier needed to be able to reopen for in-person instruction for middle and high school. If this holds, secondary in-person will start on Monday, March 22. We will know more on Tuesday.

As students prepare for a transitional reopening and as a reminder when they return to campus, it’s important for them to know and understand the changes to their school and what they need to do to keep themselves and everyone around them safe and healthy. NUSD has compiled a series of videos and colorful graphics to help students understand how they can do their part to stop the spread of COVID-19.
