Alana Cayabyab is excited to join Bannon Creek School this year as Principal. Ms. Cayabyab loves serving the Natomas community and had the opportunity to be Assistant Principal at Natomas Middle School this past school year. Ms. Cayabyab also has a unique background in education. Having taught for 5 years in a Spanish Two Way Bilingual Immersion program in South Lake Tahoe, she has a strong background in bilingual education. Ms. Cayabyab has been an Assistant Principal for these past 3 school years in both elementary and middle school levels. These vastly diverse administrative experiences have given her a strong vertical vision of education. She looks forward to being a part of Bannon Creek School and making a positive impact at that site.
Born and raised just down the road in Modesto, California, Ms. Cayabyab loves living in and being a part of Sacramento. Ms. Cayabyab attended San Diego State University for her Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She then participated in a binational teaching credential program, Mexico BCLAD, to earn her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Having lived in Oaxaca, Mexico, for a semester and experiencing Mexican culture firsthand, Ms. Cayabyab gained a depth of cultural understanding and an ability to relate to many of our English learners. She completed her second semester of her credential program at Sacramento State University.
Ms. Cayabyab further pursued higher education, returning to Sacramento State University for her Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, as well as her Administrative Credential. She is a practitioner and strong believer in Restorative Practices, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and building a strong school culture through positive relationships. Ms. Cayabyab is also a promoter of equity and considers herself an endless learner.
I look forward to partnering with you to nurture, educate and support your child to be successful at Bannon Creek School.
