During a check of Inderkum High School’s football stadium, cement pillars holding up the visiting team’s bleachers showed visible signs of erosion.  A structural engineer responded today and, out of an abundance of caution, the visitor’s side bleachers will not be used until there is time to reinforce the structure.

The home side bleachers do not show similar erosion and will be used at Inderkum football games.  In the near future, the home side bleachers also will be reinforced to prevent damage from materializing on them.

Natomas Unified is committed to the safety and well-being of its students, families and visitors.

In the short term, interim bleachers will be brought in for the visiting team, and at some games part of the home side of the stadium might need to be used for visitor seating as well. There will be some adjustments as the visiting side will be gated and blocked off at certain points. We ask that all community members who spend time in the stadium honor the signage, gate, fences, and avoid the visitors side until we’re able to reinforce the structure. If the situation changes at Inderkum, NUSD administration will reassess and adjust as appropriate.

Freshman football is being played tonight (8/25) at Inderkum. We anticipate the interim bleachers to be in place by tomorrow’s football game.
