Congrats to Jzov Stith-Gambles, Inderkum High senior, who was sworn in last night as student member of the NUSD Board.

Jzov is an excellent student who has taken classes at American River College and has participated in activities ranging from Inderkum’s tennis team to Mayor Pro Tem Angela Ashby’s Youth Advisory Council and Parks Leadership Academy for Youth. Jzov — pronounced “juh-vee” — works for a local Boys and Girls Club, plans to attend college, and hopes to become a writer someday.

A student Trustee plays an essential role by casting a preferential vote on the Board — a vote that may not make or break a Board decision but counts as a symbol of student opinion and concern. Only a handful of student board members in California have a preferential vote.
