Her work affects all Natomas Unified families, but few know her.

Laura Dean is appreciated so much by colleagues, however, that she was named NUSD’s Classified Manager of the Year today in a brief ceremony by Supt. Chris Evans.

Over the past year, Dean has overseen student testing, helped to expand high school students’ access to college admissions tests, and supervised employee training for NUSD’s new student information system, among other things.

Dean also has served as NUSD’s point person for the California Healthy Kids Survey and the International Study of City Youth. She joined Natomas Unified in February 2013 as testing coordinator and was promoted later that year after demonstrating skill and leadership, said her supervisor, Asst. Supt. Joel Rabin.

“As a result of Laura’s commitment and collaborative leadership, our students, teachers, and site leaders have more information than ever about our students’ progress toward college and career readiness,” Dr. Rabin said.

“Lastly, I want you to know that although Laura is responsible for coordinating and monitoring projects for more than 14,000 students, she is also a courageous leader who cares about each student as an individual,” he added.

Congratulations, Laura Dean – NUSD Classified Manager of the Year.
