To help prepare all schools for responding to emergencies, NUSD will participate in the “Great California Shakeout Earthquake Drill” at 10:20 a.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 20). This is an annual drill involving schools, government agencies, and other groups.
For 60 seconds, all Natomas Unified students and staff will “drop, cover and hold” as they would during a live earthquake. Afterward, schools will practice evacuation of classrooms. Separately, several student volunteers from each school who have obtained parent permission will be bused to NUSD’s Service Center as an exercise in off-site evacuation.
Please remember this is only a drill, there is no emergency.
