Earned his Emergency Medical Technician certification from American River College in 2001. Received his paramedic license in 2007 after attending NCTI in Roseville. Graduated from the Ripon Fire Department firefighting academy in 2011.

Current Job: Paramedic and firefighter for Yocha Dehe Fire Department in Yolo County. (Yocha Dehe is a federally recognized tribe of Wintun people governed by a democratically elected five-person tribal council.) Cedillo’s previous work experience includes stints as a full-time paramedic at AMR in Stockton, and as a shift volunteer firefighter for the Wilton Fire Protection District.

Q: How would you complete this sentence: NUSD was good for me because …

A:  “it got me prepared for college. Going from elementary school, where you’re in one class all day, to high school, with multiple classes and multiple teachers, I think that prepared me for college because I had to prioritize my time.”

Q: How did an NUSD education prepare you for college or career?

A:At Natomas High School, I learned to develop a good work ethic. You have to work to achieve your dreams. That work ethic has gotten me to where I am today. I love my family. I love my professional career, and I can honestly say it was due to the work ethic I learned in high school.”

Q: What advice would you give current students?

A:  Have a plan after high school. I did not have a plan – I graduated and I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a career. I wasted maybe three or four years not knowing what to do as a profession. So (my advice is) have a plan, know what you want your career to be. That way, you can hit it hard right away.”

Q: Do you have a favorite memory from your NUSD days?

A: My favorite memory would have to be homecoming rallies. It was awesome seeing everyone get crazy and excited and show their school spirit.

 Q: Future goals?

A: Continue to promote within the Fire Department.

NUSD’S BOARD-APPROVED VISION: “All NUSD students graduate as college and career ready, productive, responsible, and engaged global citizens.”
