Am I supposed to take my child’s temperature each morning before they arrive on campus and what is the temperature that determines if they need to stay home?

Yes, as part of our safety precautions, all students and staff are required to take their temperature before coming on campus to ensure temperatures are below 100.1 degrees. If a student’s temperature is not taken for some reason, we have temperature checks available in our front office.

Will there be COVID-19 testing options or requirements for staff and students?

Free COVID-19 Testing is available to all staff and students at the NUSD Service Center, and other county supported free community clinics.

How do I schedule a COVID-19 test?

The NUSD testing site is open on Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Click here to schedule an appointment.

How does contact tracing work?

Specific staff has been trained on contact tracing and will follow health guidelines. Click here for more information.

When will a class/cohort close if an individual is diagnosed with COVID-19?

NUSD COVID response team will work with Sacramento County Public Health to determine any class or cohort closures.

What happens if staff get sick at work?

When should I keep my student home from school due to illness?

If the following apply, keep your student home: temperature (at or above 100.1 degrees), Fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell (COVID-19 symptoms).

Will students be required to wear a mask all day while they are on campus?

Yes. Students and staff are required to wear a facial covering to protect themselves and others from the spread of COVID-19.

How can I get a COVID-19 test?

Free COVID-19 Testing is available at the NUSD Service Center on Tuesdays by appointment.

Who can get a COVID-19 test?

Anyone living in the County of Sacramento.

What if I need a COVID-19 test, but I cannot come on Tuesday?
