CoVitality Universal Social Emotional Learning Screening

Social Emotional Learning Screening (Grades 4-12)

What are the goals of the CoVitality Universal Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Screening?

The use of universal social-emotional learning screenings help us to:

  • Provide data-informed and responsive supports to students to increase positive student outcomes, including achievement, attendance, well-being, positive peer relationships and positive decision-making;
  • Measure the overall effectiveness of our prevention and intervention services; and
  • Guide professional development priorities for teachers, staff, and administrators.

Will the outcomes be part of my student’s permanent records? Where will the record be stored?

The results of the universal social emotional learning screening are considered confidential information and will not become part of your child’s permanent cumulative school records. All records are housed in a confidential, secure software program.

Who will have access to the information on student outcomes of the screener?

Student privacy is a priority. On the CoVitality screening instrument, student results are only available to designated staff, which include the site principal, school counselor(s), social worker, and school psychologist. Additionally, district level administrators will have access to student level information.

What information will I receive from the screener?

When students are found to be at a high level for social or emotional distress based on the results from the CoVitality Survey, a counselor or social worker will call the parent/caregiver directly to review the survey findings and discuss follow-up actions. All other families will receive their students’ CoVitality Strengths Profile as part of the annual Student Success Guide.  Parents can also request their student’s full CoVitality report by submitting a request to [email protected].
