About Me

I have been teaching for 26 years at various grade levels. I have taught first, second, fifth, seventh through ninth grade alternative education, elementary physical education, and now seventh and eighth grade Language Arts! I have been with the Natomas Unified School District for the past 19 years. I knew I wanted to be a teacher and would attend Chico State University by the time I reached 5th grade. I had fabulous teachers throughout my early school years, and those I vowed never-ever to be like.  I expect the students to give me their best, no matter their skill level, as they get mine each and every day. I'm the biggest kid in the classroom and respect my students as the individuals they are. I understand that they too are human and sometimes they have off days. We just roll with it. I have a wonderful sense of humor, and often quote movies. I'm very positive and outgoing, but realistic and straight forward, especially when problem solving and in speaking. I don't lower my teaching standards or expectations (except in dating and yes, they have therapy for that) but working together, students and I can find a way to succeed. Reading is a hobby, but so is playing a variety of sports.  I was blessed with an amazing son and like to think I did a fantastic job raising him. That is, until we argue and I realize I'm arguing with a mini-me (that mouth?!) I don't mind laughing at myself and if you're ever in need, ask me about "mocha Monday," "moving to Alaska" or teaching my son "right foot-left foot." With all that said, please always know that I truly LOVE my job.
