About Me
College: CSU, Sacramento
About me: My teaching experience began at the young age of 5, when I taught reading, writing and arithmetic to my collection of stuffed animals. I knew the moment I walked into a classroom, that being a teacher was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It is now my 14th year as a teacher, 7th year here at NP3 (not including all those years playing school in my bedroom). As a Kindergarten and the First grade teacher in Sac. City Unified School District I fell in love with teaching little ones to read and write. I swore I would never want to teach another grade level again. Four years later, I joined the Natomas community as a 4th grade teacher. It was during my time teaching 4th grade, where I discovered my love for middle school students. I taught next door to an 8th grade classroom, and I soon realized that I was meant to teach middle schoolers. Once again, I fell in love with helping youngsters to grow as readers and writers and swore I’d never want to teach a different grade level again. So often the developmental and instructional needs of middle schoolers can get overlooked, which inspired me to do whatever I could to impact the educational lives of this unique age group.
I joined the NP3 team as an 8th grade English teacher just after the school opened. My passion is to not only support students growth academically, but more so socially and emotionally. There are no words to describe the impact that the NP3 community has had on me. I've never been more inspired, challenged or grateful to be one of many, who truly will do whatever it takes to empower middle school students in their journey from childhood to adolescence.
At NP3, I have the pleasure of being the Literacy Coach and Support teacher. I work part time supporting teachers in their instructional practices and helping students grow in their proficiency as readers and writers. When I’m not teaching at NP3, I am a full time wife and mommy of three energetic and kind little boys, Rylund (3), Levi (2) and Beau, born in June of 2016. It truly is an honor for me to be working with most amazing students and staff!
