About Me

Hello Pirate Families!  Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me …

My photo says a lot about me ... I'm getting a 50th birthday kiss from a camel in Cabo San Lucas, so I'm adventurous, a traveler, and experienced! Although this is my first year at NP3 High School, I taught NP3 middle school for 7 years and I have over 25 years of teaching experience at the secondary level, including college instruction as well.  I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and went to college at the University of CA, Santa Barbara.  I have a Master’s degree in Education as well as a Master’s in Sociology.  My Master’s research and thesis focused on how parental involvement affects the academic achievement and self-esteem of students grades 9-12.

I am the proud mom of two 14 year old daughters.  My 10th grader Jenna is absolutely amazing and blesses my life every day with her genuine spirit, love, fun nature, and wisdom!  Additionally, in 2017 Jenna and I opened our home and hearts to welcome Serenity to our family.  We were honored to permanently adopt her 6 years ago. She is now a 9th grader and an incredible girl whose positive energy, resiliency, and huge heart make her easy to love!

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my extended family during weekend getaways; anywhere we can squeeze in a new adventure!  We are a very active household with fall, spring, and summer softball.  I used to coach my girls when they played on the same competitive team, but now both play travel ball and for West Park High School. We also enjoy water sports, snowboarding, hiking, and ropes courses.  Camping is a must as we LOVE boating and campfires!  We also love to travel as much as possible and usually fly out for new experiences during fall and spring breaks.  However, we also love quality family time at home such as playing card games, movies, and long walks with our dogs.

With such diversity in my life, I am bound to connect with students on some level and I look forward to building relationships with them and learning and growing alongside each one of them!  Cheers to building our Pirate community to be the best we can be!
