Laurelle Mathison, the new principal of Discovery High School, has a love for music. It’s been a passion since she was a youth living in Trinidad and Tobago where she grew up. Obtaining a music degree made perfect sense, so after moving to the United States, she obtained a Bachelor of Music from the University of the Pacific and later a Master of Music from Boston University. She utilized her experience and schooling to become a music teacher in the Lodi Unified and Lincoln Unified School Districts.
We are so thrilled to have our students back on campus 5 days a week for in-person instruction, and we’re glad that we are able to continue offering the distance learning option to families for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year which ends June 10. Beyond that, there is no indication from the state that distance learning will continue to be allowed in response to the COVID pandemic. All indications at this time show that schools will be back to in-person instruction solely in the fall.
