Natomas Unified students are improving in many important areas.  Our A-G rate has continued to improve over the past number of years, with 6 in 10 students now able to attend a CSU or UC school after graduation.  More students also are taking the ACT college admissions test, and more students are taking advantage of rigorous college-level courses through our AP and IB programs.

To learn more about our NUSD’s current performance as well as our progress over time, get a copy of the first-ever District Progress Report (DPR), which is available now in the main office of all district-operated schools and at the NUSD Ed Center, 1901 Arena Blvd.

This printed booklet features charts and graphs describing our district’s performance and progress in student achievement, school climate, graduation rate, student attendance, and other key areas.

The DPR provides valuable insight on where we are succeeding, where we are making progress, and where we need to improve. Progress is tracked annually over three years, making it easier to spot trends district-wide and among specific student groups. If you prefer to view the report online, it is available on the district website here.

Metrics in the DPR are not “final grades,” they’re works in progress for preparing all students to graduate as college and career ready, productive, responsible, and engaged global citizens. The DPR will be updated twice a year to keep our district focused on supporting all students, with particular attention to English Learners, students of poverty, students of color, and foster students.

Extensive community feedback last year led to creation of NUSD’s “The Next 5” strategic plan, targeting 28 strategic directions for district improvement over the next five years. The new DPR is like a checkup, or snapshot, of how we’re doing along the way.

Soon, the California Department of Education anticipates releasing updated district and school performance data as part of its California School Dashboard, which is part of the state’s new school accountability system. Like the DPR, the dashboard will show strengths and areas that need improvement.

Data provided in NUSD’s DPR and the California School Dashboard are meant to provide consistency and reassurance that performance will be monitored, progress will be checked, data will be tracked, and that our community will be kept informed.
