More than 370 kids were served a free BBQ lunch at today’s NUSD Summer Feeding Program Kickoff event at Jefferson School.

The family-friendly event sponsored by NUSD’s Nutrition Services Department, also featured a smoothie-making bicycle, music, games, and a free farmers market. Take a look at some of the fun captured below!

A similar event will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. next Thursday (6/13) at Natomas Park Elementary School, 4700 Crest Drive.

The two kickoff events represent a more significant movement throughout the district designed to ensure that no child goes hungry while classes are out and school cafeterias are closed in June and July. To learn more about our Free Summer Meals Program, serving breakfast and/or lunches to 11 schools through July 31, view the attached flyers in English and Spanish.
