Plenty of folks are eager to serve NUSD students, judging from turnout at Thursday’s Employee Job Fair.

About 300 applicants turned out July 20 to seek a wide variety of staff positions, including teacher, instructional assistant, bus driver, clerk, custodian, food service assistant, or grounds, maintenance or playground specialist. Dozens of full- and part-time jobs are open as NUSD prepares for the start of classes Aug. 9.

The job fair offered hiring the old-fashioned way, with face-to-face meetings and personal interviews. Applicants were asked to bring resumes and be prepared to interview on the spot. The district was prepared to issue job offers that day, pending fingerprint checks and other requirements. Final tallies, however, were not available immediately.

The Employee Job Fair was coordinated by NUSD’s Human Resources Department. Principals and district administrators from nearly every department assisted with interviewing. The event was held in the district service center at 1931 Arena Blvd.
