About Me

2020-2021 is my sixth year at Inderkum High School and my eighth year of teaching overall. This year I will teach Study Skills, APEX credit recovery, support in two Integrated Math 2 classes, and provide support in the learning center. I am excited to be working with Mr. Kittles and Mr. Woodworth (for the fourth time!) in Integrated Math 2.

In addition to providing resource support in classes and teaching classes, I case manage students at all 4 grade levels.  Other roles I have served in at Inderkum as well include providing resource support in English 9, English 10, and ERWC as well as multiple Math I and Math II classes. I have taught Study Skills, Integrated Math 1 and US History for the department as well. I served as the department chairperson from 2015-2020. I taught Saturday School from 2015-2019. I have also taught credit-recovery summer school since 2016 as well. I have served as a host teacher for a student teacher from Western Governors University during the 19-20 school year. He is now teaching at H. Allen Hight Elementary!  Lastly, I have served as a Teacher Induction mentor for teachers who need to clear their teaching credentials since 2017. I have done induction at the elementary, middle and high school level. This year I am supporting 3 teachers, all at Inderkum in clearing their credentials.

My main goals at Inderkum are to prepare students to be college and career ready and to teach them to advocate for themselves so that they can have successful and meaningful careers and lives following high school. I want them to learn social-emotional skills that allow them to express themselves in ways that are productive, benefit them, and help them be emotionally healthy people.

My personal background - I grew up in Cupertino, CA and Petaluma, CA. Graduated from Petaluma High School in 2007. Graduated with a BA in History and Government (double major, with honors), and graduate of Cohort 2 of the GE Honors Program in 2011. Earned my Education Specialist Mild/Moderate credential with EL Authorization and Autism Authorization in 2013. I student taught at Eich Middle School (Roseville) and Franklin High School (Elk Grove) in 2012-2013 school year. I taught at Galt High School from 2013-2015. I earned my Masters in Special Education from University of the Pacific in Stockton in 2015. I cleared my credential through SCOE BTSA/Induction in 2015 as well. I earned a preliminary administrative services through SCOE in 2020 as part of NUSD's Aspiring Leaders, Cohort 2.

Outside of school I enjoy perusing the Sacramento food scene, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. Over the past few summers I have travelled to 11 different countries - Costa Rica & Panama (2015), Sweden (2016), England (2017), and Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Switzerland (2019). This summer did not allow for international travel but I did get to spend a week along the California coast in Santa Barbara, Long Beach, and San Diego. I love boogey boarding and got to do so at 5 different beaches - Bolsa Chica (Huntington), Newport Beach, Torrey Pines State Beach, Del Mar State Beach, and La Jolla Shores Beach. I am also learning how to paddle board and hope to continue to find time to do that during the school year.
