Students will be given a noun: bear
Students will develop a list of adjectives describing the noun: Teacher prompt: "The bear is..." (brown, big, hairy)
Students will develop a list of verbs describing actions for the noun: Teacher prompt: "The big bear will..." (run, hide, hunt)
Students will develop a list of prepositional phrases: Teacher prompt: "Where will the bear run" "What will the bear eat?" (to the lake, eat salmon)
Students will sticky tag one adjective, the noun, one verb, and one prepositional phrase to write a complete sentence on a sentence strip.
In a later lesson, a team of students will be given one adjective, the noun, one verb, and one prepositional phrase written on sentence strips and put the words in order to make a complete sentence. Teams will present their sentence to the class.

Teacher observation of completed sentences.
During writing assessment, teacher will check for understanding of complete sentences.
