Teachers will refer to Treasures TE guidelines and materials to differentiate and/or extend instruction in Foundations of Reading and Writing. This includes re-teaching skills and concepts not mastered by small groups or whole class.
Assessment/CFU
Brainstorm: Using a 3-column chart, brainstorm 1st (left column): “What did we learn about Amazing Undersea Creatures,” and 2nd: “Why is this important to learn?” (oceans/geography, prey/predators, diet/food source, environmental effects, learn new words, etc.) and 3rd : “How did you learn what you learned?” Aquarium Review: Ask students to use their journals and work with a partner to list everything they can remember learning during the past week in Amazing Undersea Creatures. Have each pair select their top 2 ideas. Ask each partner to write one sentence (1 idea/student) in a complete sentence on a sentence strip or index card. (Remind them of the SPC and proper sentence structure.) Have students share/ post their sentences in the Aquarium Exhibit.
