People riding public transit

On September 11, 2019 the Natomas Unified Board of Trustees approved our participation in the Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) Fare-Free transit program. The program provides our students with free transportation to extracurricular activities, jobs, and internships. It also reduces the financial burden for students and families.

The pass and sticker (pictured below) will allow students to ride for free on the entire SacRT network. This includes SacRT buses, light rail, and SmaRT Ride microtransit service. The program is available all day, any day of the week, and all year during regular SacRT service hours. The sticker is active from October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020.

Natomas Unified is requiring that parents/guardians of TK-5 students Opt-in by submitting the attached SacRT TK-5th Grade Pass Permission/Request Form. SacRT has provided Natomas Unified with special ID’s for TK-5 students. They look different than their monthly passes and can be easily identified by their drivers. The sticker will be affixed to the pass.

Students can get the stickers from local libraries, and SacRT is asking that local school districts participate by distributing the stickers to students. For Grades 6-12, we are requesting site staff to affix the SacRT sticker to student ID’s. For fraud prevention purposes NUSD must ensure that the sticker is affixed directly to a Student ID card while the student is on school premises. Parents/guardians can Opt-out of the program simply by removing the sticker. If lost or removed, replacement stickers must be requested in writing by the parent.
