How to add new Kyocera printers to your Windows machine.
As of Summer 2018 the old Toshiba Copiers have been removed and replaced with new Kyocera models. This guide will show you how to add the printers for your site to your Windows machine in a few easy steps.
Note: If you do not know how to access your network drives go here.
Step 1: Find the IP or Hostname of the printer you want to add.
Go to the printer and click “Device Information” on the main menu screen.
The next screen will show both the IP and the Hostname of the printer. Write down both or either, they will be used later.
You also want to take down the model of the printer. That information is located on the front of the printer:
Step 2: Go to your “District Share” drive (Q:) and locate the folder “Kyocera Printer”:
Open that folder and then the first folder within(KX_Print_Driver):
You will see a list of folders and files on the next screen. Double click the “Setup” icon (third from the bottom) to launch the application that will install the printers and click “Run”.
Step 3: Using the application. On the first screen, click “Custom Install”.
The sequence for adding the printers on the following screens is important, so make sure to follow the steps exactly.
Step 3a: Double click “Add custom device”:
Step 3b: On the drop down menu at the top, select the model of your printer. The ones that have been installed at NUSD will be found all the way at the bottom of the scroll bar:
Step 3c: Select the correct printer, then click “Add Port”, click “Next”, and enter the IP or Hostname of your printer on the following screen(port name should autofill) click “Next”, then “Finish”:
This will return you to the screen you were at previously, click “OK”.
You should now be on the screen all of this started on and be able to see the printer added to the list on the right:
Step 3d: Double click the first option under “Drivers” in order to add the driver to that printer:
Note: If you wish to add multiple printers at once, repeat the above steps for each subsequent printer.
You will now see the driver added underneath the printer. Click “Install” on the bottom right to begin installation process. Click the “No” option on the next screen, then continue.
Step 3e: When the application is finished installing it will take you to a final screen. Uncheck all boxes except “Print Test Page” and click “Finish”:
That’s It! You are free to close out of the application. You may rename the printer to whatever you like under “devices and printers” at a later time if you wish.
