Like all other staff who use Infinite Campus, teachers have a user account which allows them to sign into IC. However, teachers will NOT be able to see any course information until the school site attaches them to courses via the “Staff History” tab on a course section. This applies to anyone who needs to be able to take attendance or enter grades on a course (another existing teacher, new teacher, long-term sub, or administrator).
If a teacher leaves and their employment assignment has already been ended by the district, and there is not yet a replacement teacher or long-term sub assigned to cover their courses, a site administrator needs to be assigned to the courses in order for the courses to appear in the attendance “Classroom Monitor”. During the school year, there needs be someone assigned to a course as the teacher of record for any and all instructional days.
To add someone to a course section, search for the class under “Course/Section”, select a section, and click on the “Staff History” tab:
If the current primary teacher is not returning, end his/her assignment as well as access to the section:
NOTE: Teachers who were assigned to a course during master scheduling the previous spring/summer will not have a start date on their assignment. A blank start date implies the first day the course section is taught.
Now add the long-term sub or site administrator as a “New Primary Teacher”:
If the current primary teacher will be returning, leave him/her as the Primary teacher and add the new teacher, long-term sub, or site admin as a “New Teacher” only—this will give the additional teacher access while keeping the original teacher in place as only one “Primary” teacher can be assigned at a time:
In the case of an additional teacher being added, the name of the original teacher of record will probably be left in place.
You will see that there is now a Primary teacher and an additional teacher assigned and with access to this course section:
Important Notes:
Daily subs are not given access to IC. They will be given a paper attendance Register by the school office, and attendance will be entered by the school office staff.
When a long-term sub, other teacher, or site admin is no longer covering a course section, the site scheduler needs to end his/her assignment and access to the section.
Do not give a teacher a start or end date on their assignment that predates the first day of the school year. Please delete the assignment IF the school year has not yet started.
