NUSD Staff and Parents,

For the past five months, I have been trying to address an ongoing sinus issue. With an extremely busy summer, then the start of the school year and Measure L on the November ballot, I could not take the time off needed to address this health issue.

A few weeks back, I had a surgical procedure to address the same sinus issue and after consulting with a doctor, it was determined that I need time to recover post-surgery.  As a result, I will be out of my NUSD office and unavailable until January.  While there never is a good time to temporarily step away from being a Superintendent, tonight’s election brings an end to Measure L as a ballot measure, and November and December are shorter work months due to the holidays.

I would prefer to recover in private. However, I am a Natomas resident and a Dad, so you may see me out walking, at the grocery store, in my role as a Dad and/or elsewhere. Since I may be seen in the community but I won’t be responding to work requests or communications during my recovery, I felt that I needed to share this information with you to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding.

As of now, Deputy Superintendent Bill Young will serve as acting superintendent. Please use normal means of communication to connect with NUSD, just be mindful that my email, Messenger, texts, etc. will not be monitored in the same way.

Thank you for continuing to support our Natomas Unified schools and I look forward to returning after the holidays!

Sincerely,

Supt. Chris Evans
