District Communication: We hope your summer break is off to a great start, and we wanted to follow up on a communication that was sent to families in May that announced a shift in start times for 4 of our sites that serve middle and high school students.
Sacramento County Office of Education is pleased to collaborate with the California Association for Bilingual Educators (CABE) – Sacramento Regional Collaborative Chapter to offer scholarships for State Seal of Biliteracy recipients. Three scholarships of $1,000 each will be granted to selected candidates.
We are so thrilled to have our students back on campus 5 days a week for in-person instruction, and we’re glad that we are able to continue offering the distance learning option to families for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year which ends June 10. Beyond that, there is no indication from the state that distance learning will continue to be allowed in response to the COVID pandemic. All indications at this time show that schools will be back to in-person instruction solely in the fall.
The Natomas Schools Foundation is accepting applications until May 7 for college scholarships — some $1,000, others $500 — to be awarded to current high school students in Natomas Unified.
In reaching an agreement with the Natomas Teachers’ Association, NUSD restores 5 day a week in-person instruction, maintains family choice, maintains safety measures as about 50% of our students return 5 days a week on Monday, April 12.
As we expected and shared with you on Sunday evening, Sacramento County is now in the red tier, a less restrictive tier that allows secondary students (6-12) to return to in-person instruction.
We are getting one step closer to reopening for secondary grades (6-12). On Friday afternoon, we learned that Sacramento County may be moving into the red tier on Tuesday, March 16, the tier needed to be able to reopen for in-person instruction for middle and high school. If this holds, secondary in-person will start on Monday, March 22. We will know more on Tuesday.
We are honored to present to you the NHS Top Hawk Honor Roll. Please celebrate with us and recognize the efforts and hard work these students have put forth to maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA or to improve from their previous GPA by .5 or more. We are truly proud of their accomplishments.
