Megan Deems earned her B.M. and M.M. in Music Education from the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music.  While working on her Master’s Degree in music at the conservatory, Mrs. Deems served as the Graduate Assistant of Bands studying conducting with Dr. Eric Hammer and clarinet with Dr. Patricia Shands.  Mrs. Deems also studied conducting with Dr. Gordon Brock and clarinet with Elizabeth Rheude at the University of North Dakota.  With over 17 years of teaching experience, she has taught music from the elementary through the collegiate levels, including a semester as visiting guest lecturer at the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music where she conducted the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and as an adjust instructor of clarinet at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. She joined the NMS staff in 2013.

      Mrs. Deems maintains an active performing career in the Sacramento area.  She is currently in her 7th season performing as the Principal Clarinetist of the Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the Auburn Symphony, Camellia Symphony, Mother Load Friends of Music Chamber Orchestra, Bear Valley Symphony Music Festival, Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra, California Wind Orchestra, Sacramento Symphonic Winds, Valley Concert Band, the Fair Oaks Woodwind Quintet, and many other groups throughout the area.
