About Me

On behalf of NP3 Elementary School, Ms. Dart, Mrs. Cissney, Ms. Caballero, Ms. Van Dunk, and I, welcome to the 2023-2024 academic school year at NP3 Elementary School!  For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Patricia Riehl, and I will serve as your child’s third grade teacher for the year.  As a staff member at NP3, I am incredibly excited to hit the ground running!  I am honored and privileged to work with your son or daughter, and I anticipate this to be a busy yet fulfilling school year.

I strongly believe in creating solid relationships and establishing open communication, so I’d like you to know as much about me as possible.  I am originally from Massachusetts and graduated from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College.  I received my credential from Chapman University, earned a Master’s degree in Bilingual/Multicultural education from CSU Sacramento in 2009, have served as an academic instructor for a teacher credentialing program, and received my Preliminary Administrative Services credential in 2015.  I moved to California in 2004 from Boston, and this will be my twentienth year working in education and my sixteenth year as a teacher!  I am so thrilled to be part of the founding team that continues to develop an authentic learning experience for your student.  NP3 is a school that strives to help students set goals and succeed, and high expectations, positive relationships, meaningful curriculum, and a raised responsibility system are at the forefront of this effort.  In addition to a rigorous academic program, I am eager to continue integrating the Leader in Me curriculum and social emotional learning into the school day through literature, Morning Meeting, and other events throughout the year.  Not only do I aspire to see scholars emerge from this class, but I also hope to promote students who are helpful toward their peers, honest, and have respect, integrity, and a great heart.  Additionally, it is my first priority to keep students safe and actively prepare them to become productive citizens and leaders in their communities!

On a personal note, I love spending time with my husband, John; son, JT (11); daughter, Claire (8), and our Golden Retriever, Roo!  If I’m not with them, I like to work out, read, go paddle boarding, and run. Most importantly, I love spending time with the people that matter most to me and traveling whenever I can to places like Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, Florida, as well as visiting family on the East Coast.  I can’t wait to continue our amazing work with the rest of the NP3 family!
