Class Note – 01/03/17

Hi Families!

Happy New Year! We are hitting the ground running this week! Thank you all for meeting with me during conference week, it was a pleasure to share your students accomplishments with you.

Here is what is going on this week!

Field Trips: Please return the Powerhouse Science Center permission slip ASAP. I have extra if needed! Look for the CA Histoy Museum and the NP3 Middle School trip forms coming home this week.

Math: We will review long division and begin practicing dividing decimals. Students will have homework tomorrow and Thursday.

ELA: We are continuing our Wonders curriculum this week. We will focus on short stories and learn about “theme” this week. We also are starting our second ‘Wordly Wise’, our new vocabulary based spelling program. We have class time to work on it, but if they don’t finish Thursday it will be homework. It is due on Friday.

Social Studies: We are starting our unit on Early English Settlements and learning about the original colonies.

Homework club: We will resume next week Monday and Tuesday 2:45-3:15!

Pizza & Ice Cream Party: The 5th graders took the prize for most students taking part in the “Walking School Bus” for the first cycle! We were rewarded with a pizza and ice cream party which will be this Friday at 1:15. Everything will be provided by boosters. Way to go!!

That’s it for now! Enjoy this week! Please see Matey Message below!

Love,
Ms. Linnane
