FOCUS: Welcome to the last week of school! Tuesday will be a long Advisory period where we will be recognizing those who have earned Honor Roll! On Wednesday, we will hearing from a 7th grade panel about what 6th graders can expect for next year. On both Thursday and Friday, students will report to Advisory at 8am for the days' activities. Thursday is the End of the Year Celebration at Westlake Park, and Friday is 8th grade promotion! We are out at 11:55 am both days. Report cards will be going hoe with your student on Friday! Please let me know if you have any questions! It has been a pleasure to work with your student this year! Have a great summer, and we'll see you back on August 1st!

FOCUS: This week we will be discussing Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw, which is about living a balanced life. We will also be preparing for Leadership Day (May 9th). We can't wait to show you all the different ways we have been leaders this year!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: - Leadership Day: Wed., May 9th at 6:00pm - Election Day: Friday, May 11th during Advisory for student government offices - Toy Drive: NP3 MS Service Project Action Team presents..."Foster Kid's Toy Drive," a charity event to provide foster children ages 0-13 years with a heartwarming gift of new or gently used toys. Donations will be taken during Leadership Day from 6-6:30pm in the quad. A raffle ticket will be given for a chance to win a prize. - 2019 DC/NYC Enrollment Meeting: We are excited to invite all families interested in going on the 8th grade DC/NYC trip attend a meeting in Ms. Clark's room on 5/9 (following Leadership Day). The meeting begins at 7:15pm. - May is Bike Month: Did you know that May is officially bike month? NP3 MS is participating in a challenge to rise as much as possible. Participating is easy, just hop on your bike and ride! Anytime, anywhere! Students keep track of how many trips they take, and log it in Advisory class. 1 trip equals 10 minutes of riding. That's not all! Students who ride at least once a week will earn a prize. There is a different prize for each week, so get on your bike and ride! Be smart, be safe, but most importantly, HAVE FUN! - Honor Roll and Reassessments: The end of the year is approaching fast! If your goal is to make it on honor roll you must have a 3 or 4 on all standards. We are so excited to have our 6th and 7th graders see the projects our 8th graders have been working on all year long! - Popsicle Stand: It's getting hot outside! FOCUS: This week we will wrap up Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood. Conference letters wen out Monday; please have your student return ASAP with your prefered time! Q3 Student Led Conferences begin Monday, March 12th. The gradebook closes for Q3 on Friday, so please encourage your student to take care of reteaches and retakes this week. On Tuesday, we will be doing trash pick-up on our campus to show our love! Wednesday and Friday will be dedicated to wrapping up Habit 5 and checking goals.

FOCUS: We will resume Advisory this week by introducing Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Than to be Understood. This is a great habit that is all about communication, perspectives, and empathy. On Friday, we will be celebrating meeting our 6th grade SMART Goal (75% of students being proficient or advanced at writing a claim) by watching a movie in class. Gooo Sixers!

FOCUS: In Advisory this week, we continue to practice Habit 4: Think Win-Win! We have a great opportunity to participate in The Great Kindness Challenge! Our 6th grade goal is to reach 1,000 acts of kindness by this Friday! Please encourage your student to think win-win and make desposits into others' Relationship Bank Account!

Students will also participate in activities and readings from the student journal to make the content more interactive! Last week, we finallized our class mission statement and it's posted outside our door; it's our class' values (such as "respect," "dedication," "courage," "kindness," ect.) in the shape of a skull with a pirate hat! ANNOUNCEMENTS: - Buses: There will no longer be a 4:15 bus on Monday and Fridays; students MUST have a bus pass to ride the bus -K-12 Dental Day: NP3 has teamed up with Children's Choice Pediatric Dental Care. Be a part of our 10/22 K-12 Dental Day and help raise money for our school (see the Monday email for a flyer) -Picture Make-Up Day: 10/25 -Run for Rhett: Students will practice Mondays and Wednesdays on the track starting on 10/16. Students must have a permission form to participate. FOCUS: This week we have extended Advisory (no Enrichment/Intervention) to prepare for student-led conferences and continue to foster a positive environment that's centered around relationships. Monday, will be Academic Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday, students will be brainstorming and practicing for conferences. Friday, students will have a special schedule for the FUND RUN and be attending Advisory at 8am.

Week of September 5th Due: Saturday September 09, 2017
FOCUS: On Tuesday we will be going over grade checks and goals for this week. On Wednesday, we will spend more time on Habit 1: Be Proactive (focusing on the freedom to choose). Students will also begin to think about their own Wildly Important Goals for the year. On Friday, we have our first school rally! Woooh!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: - Pizza sales: fundraiser for Science Camp, $1/slice Thursday after school - Tutoring: starts this Wednesday after school for invited students - Conferences: a sign-up sheet with dates and times for parent/student conferences will go out this Friday. Please return or email back ASAP! - Science Camp Fundraiser: ends this Friday, 9/08; packets and money due - Spirit Week: next week, theme is sports! - Edible Arrangements: 2nd annual smoothie fundraiser (Natomas location) - Yearbook forms went home! Order them from Ms. Snelling or online! - Advisory is collecting Box Tops - the class with the most wins a pizza party! FOCUS: We will be reviewing Academic Monday procedures and spending more time on Habit 1: Be Proactive (focusing on the freedom to choose and the circle of influence). We will also kicking off our Science Camp fundraiser (please bring in your monetary contributions if you have not done so already) and be having our firs Student of the Month celebration!
