Week of May 7, 2018 Due: Sunday May 13, 2018
-This year is coming to an end and we have a annual Academic End of Year Celebration. Students attending the celebration need to have summative score of 2 or higher in every summative. Please assist us in encouraging your student to complete assignments and prepare reteaches. Check your students grade checks, they are passed out every Monday, have your students complete retakes accordingly. The last day for retakes will be May 18th, 2018 for all teachers and classes. -Save the Date: We are excited to invite all of our families to Leadership Day! Leadership Day is this Wed 5/9 at 6:00pm! Leadership Day will begin with our Action Teams sharing about their role, followed by activities in classrooms where your child will navigate through the 7 Habits with you. -Toy Drive: NP3 MS Service Project Action Team presents..."Foster Kid's Toy Drive," a charity event to provide foster children ages 0-13 years with a heartwarming gift of new or gently used toys. Donations will be taken during Leadership Day from 6-6:30pm in the quad. A raffle ticket will be given for a chance to win a prize. -2019 DC/NYC Enrollment Meeting: We are excited to invite all families interested in going on the 8th grade DC/NYC trip attend a meeting in Ms. Clark's room on 5/9 (following Leadership Day). The meeting begins at 7:15pm. -May is Bike Month: Did you know that May is officially bike month? NP3 MS is participating in a challenge to rise as much as possible. Participating is easy, just hop on your bike and ride! Anytime, anywhere! Students keep track of how many trips they take, and log it in Advisory class. 1 trip equals 10 minutes of riding. That's not all! Students who ride at least once a week will earn a prize. There is a different prize for each week, so get on your bike and ride! Be smart, be safe, but most importantly, HAVE FUN! -Honor Roll and Reassessments: The end of the year is approaching fast! If your goal is to make it on honor roll you must have a 3 or 4 on all standards. Snacks will be provided! -Farewell Rally: Students Government will be putting on our last rally of the year in the Gym on 5/16. -College Fair: Fri May 25 is 8th grade College Fair! We are so excited to have our 6th and 7th graders see the projects our 8th graders have been working on all year long! -Popsicle Stand: It's getting hot outside! Popsicles are for sale on Thur after school in the quad to help raise money for our student sunshine action team and student government class. -Early Release Days: Students get out at 11:55 on the last two days of school 5/31 & 6/1.

PARENTS & FAMILIES: Save the Date: We are excited to invite all of our families to Leadership Day! Save the date for 5/9 at 6pm. Hello Families, SBAC Testing: SBAC is administered the next few weeks. Please make sure your student is well rested and on time for school. Let Ms. Marinkovich know if you are interested in attending. 6th Grade Science Camp: 6th grade students will be gone 4/30-5/2 at Alliance Redwood Science Camp. Big FUN is on the way! NP3 HS Information: 8th grade students who will be attending NP3 High will select courses the week of April 9th with HS Counselors and their current Advisory teacher. Copies will be sent home for parent verification. Please see attachments for more information about upcoming dates and a copy of the course selection sheet your student will be completing. If you have any questions, please contact your student's counselor. Booster Meeting: The next Booster Meeting is 4/9 6:30pm in NP3 Library! Snacks are provided and we love your support! Run for Rhett: Practices have resumed! Please join Mondays and Wednesdays after school on the track! College Making it Happen: This event is at Sacramento State on 4/14. It's intended primarily for 6th-9th grade students and their families and provides practical and easy-to-understand information on how to prepare academically and financially for college. Please take the attached flyer and your family out to dinner on 3/12, 5-9 pm at the Chipotle off of Truxel Blvd. Parent Conference Week: We can't wait to meet with you and have your students share about their progress! Q3 parent conferences are 3/12-3/16. There are minimum days all week. 8th Grade DC/NYC Trip: It's finally here! Students who are going on the trip will be gone from 3/15-3/20. Hello Families, Penny Wars for Patients: Students are participating in a "Penny Wars" Advisory competition to help raise money for Sacramento's Leukemia and Lymphoma Society during the month of February. Students are encouraged to bring change on Fridays during the month of February to help support this cause and their Advisory win! Outdoor Club Field Trip: Have you ever gone caving? Come join Outdoor Club at the Black Chasm Cavern near Volcano, CA. There will be on a 50-minute tour and time to explore the surrounding area on Sat 2/24 8:30-3:00. Let Ms. Marinkovich know if you want to join! Final DC/NYC meeting for current 8th graders: The final mandatory meeting for the March 2018 trip will be 2/21 6pm in the Gym. If students are not dressing for a spirit day, they are expected to be dress code. Run for Rhett: NP3 will have a running team at the annual "Run for Rhett; Run Because You Can” April 22. Students train every Mon and Wed after school on the track until 4pm. At the end of the 8 weeks, students complete a 5k race. Students earn Sacramento Running Association ribbons, a cool finishers trophy, and the pride of supporting a positive cause. See Mrs. Clark for details! Practice begins Feb 26, It's healthy and free! See you on the track! March Madness: NP3 is celebrating March Madness by having our own! Qualifying rounds are happening at lunch 2/27-2/28. The actual tournament will happen at lunch 3/5-3/7 & 3/9. Sign up with Student Government! 7th Grade Field-Trip: 7th graders are headed to the bay area to tour UC Berkeley and visit the Exploratorium on 3/2. Please make sure all permission forms are turned in!

ATS Summer Program: Are you interested in getting a taste of the college experience? Academic Talent Search (ATS) offers 4th-9th graders exciting summer courses at Sacramento State that you pick for yourself! Choose from classes like All the World's a stage, Algebra 1, LEGO Robotics, Neuropsychology, Video Game Development, and many others. To join, you MUST take the ATS Qualifying Exam. The test only takes an hour and there is no pass or fail, so there's no need to stress! The exam will be held at NP3 Middle 2/2 1:35 in room O-3. Please return sign up sheet to Mrs. Edwards. Q2 Conferences: We are so excited to host Q2 student led conferences and visit with our families. Conferences this quarter will be held 12/15 & 12/18-12/21. These will be minimum days for middle school students. Please make sure you sign up for a conference with your student's Advisory teacher! Counseling Newsletter: Please see attachment for the Q2 Counseling Newsletter! Barnes and Noble Fundraiser: Help support NP3 December 18-20! See attached flyer from our boosters. 7th grade Field Trip: We are excited to partake in our first Seize the Day College Tour. March 2nd our 7th grade class will visit the Exploratorium on Pier 15 in San Francisco, followed by a tour of a bay area college! The cost is $85 per student. Families have options to fundraise or volunteer a donation. We are so excited to grow our college knowledge here at NP3! More info will be given at parent conferences. 6th Science Camp Announcement: Our exciting camp trip at Alliance Redwoods will be here before we know it! (April 30-May 2). We still need your contribution if you haven't made one already. The cost is $240. Your contribution can be made voluntarily or we can help with fundraising. "On a Roll" Celebration: Students who are "on a roll" to honor roll will be invited to an after school celebration on 12/8 from 3-4pm in the NP3 GYM hosted by student government. Students must have all 3s and 4s on their 12/4 grade checks to be invited. Encourage your student to get their work in and complete retakes if needed!

ADVISORIES, STUDENTS & FAMILIES: K-9 Open Enrollment: NP3 will be accepting applications for the 18-19 school year 10/16-11/17. K-9 applications are available in the front office and on our website. Booster Meeting: The Monday 11/13 Booster Meeting is cancelled. Fall Dodge-Ball Tournament: Student Government is hosting a fall dodge-ball tournament 11/14 and 11/15. Students will be able to sign up with their friends in teams of 5. Get excited! Yearbook Sales: Buy a 17-18 NP3 Middle yearbook before prices go up 12/31! Checks made payable to NP3 Boosters, or cash accepted. $23! Yearbook money can be turned into your student's Advisor. Yearbook Cover Contest: Help choose the 2018 Yearbook cover! Come by Ms. Snelling's class during lunch 11/14, 11/15 & 11/17 to cast your vote! Giving Tree: Support local families! The Kylie Lillich Giving Tree will be located in the front office starting 11/15. Students and families can grab ornaments off of the tree to purchase gifts and items of need for local families. Give the Gift of Warmth!: 7th grader Akshaj Mehta and 1st grader Atiksh Mehta are leading a winter drive for families in need from 10/16-11/17. No School: There will also be no school the 11/20-24 in honor of Thanksgiving. School will resume on Mon 11/27. Henna Art Fundraiser: Come get your Henna on! 11/14 & 12/1 after school! Campus Love Park Clean Up: Campus Love will be conducting a park clean up at Westlake Park on 11/15 from 3pm-4pm. If you would like to join, see Mrs. Qasmi! B&N NP3 Book Fair: On 11/26 NP3 will be at Barnes in Noble in Natomas. There will be gift wrapping, story time, a performance by our HS choir and more. Please see attached flyer for details! Q2 Spirit Week: Get excited! Mon 11/27: meme day-dress up as your favorite meme; Tue 11/28: Converse Vs. Vans; Wed 11/29: twin day; Thur 11/30: Disney Day-dress up as your favorite Disney character; Fri 12/1: 20's Gatsby-show your school spirit! This is the theme for the dance. Q2 Dance: The Q2 Gatsby dance is on Fri 12/1 from 3:30-5:30 pm. Students must be picked up at 5:30. Tickets will be on sale the week prior and at the door. 8th Field Trip: 8th grade will be taking a field trip to CSU Sacramento on Fri 12/1. Permission slips were sent home-please make sure they get returned to your student's Advisory teacher. Outdoor Club Field trip: Students in Outdoor Club will be indoor rock climbing at Pipeworks in Sacramento on 12/2 at 9:30 am. If you would like to join please see Ms. Marinkovich! BIG FUN! If your student is not in a costume, they must be in dress code. If any part of a costume interrupts student learning, they will be asked to change accordingly. Halloween Lunch Rally: Student Government will be hosting a rally on 10/31 in the quad at lunch. They will be sharing information about upcoming events. Movie Night: NP3 MS will be hosting a movie night on Fri 11/3 from 3:30-5:30pm in the GYM. The movie "Rise of the Guardians" will be played. There is a $4 entrance fee and pizza, nachos, cotton candy and drinks will be sold for $1 each. This event is open to students and families from NP3 MS and NP3 E. Students can bring blankets, pillows, etc. Outdoor Club Field-trip: On 11/4 Outdoor Club will be hiking to Clementine Dam. This is a easy/moderate hike and is about 4.5 miles round-trip. If you would like to participate or join Outdoor Club please see Ms. Marinkovich for details. This is a great way to encourage a love of the outdoors through physical activity and to have fun. No School: There will be no school on Friday November 10th in honor of Veterans Day.

Booster Meeting: Mon 10/23 6:30 pm in the NP3 Library. Snacks are provided! Bus departure update: Beginning after the fall break there will not be a 4:15 late bus on Mondays and Fridays. Bus Pass Update: From here on out all students MUST have their buss pass in order to ride the bus. This is for safety purposes. All NP3 students are eligible to ride the bus for free but must have the completed the application process to receive their pass. Please see the transportation page on the NP3 Middle website for more information. Pizza Sale: Student Government will be selling pizza after school to raise money on 10/26. Pizza slices will be sold for $1 each. Make-up Picture Day: All students and staff who missed or need to re-do their school picture can do so on 10/25. NP3 Elementary Dig Day: NP3E would like to invite anyone who is interested to attend their Dig Day. Join them in making their garden dreams a reality! They will be preparing their new gardens, in partnership with Healthy Planet, this Saturday, October 28th from 9 AM - 12:30 PM. Morning snacks, water and coffee will be provided, courtesy of P3. Students CANNOT wear excessively ripped jeans (jeans with holes in the knees are okay), clothing that promotes violence, drugs or alcohol, revealing clothing (i.e. no showing midriffs), including tank tops.

Advisory Announcements 8/28/17 Due: Monday September 04, 2017
Science Camp Fundraiser: 6th grade will be running a cookie dough and gift catalog fundraiser Aug 29 - Sep 8. Yearbook Forms: Yearbook forms were sent home with students last week! Please order online or turn in your orders to Ms. Snelling. Cash is accepted and checks are to be made out to NP3 Boosters. Popsicle Stand: Student Government will be selling popsicles after school on Thu Aug 31 to raise money for future events. The sale will happen in the quad for 50 cents each. Picture Day: Picture Day for all students is Aug 30. Forms were sent home with students last week. Please make sure they bring the forms with them on picture day. No School: On Sep 4 for Labor Day. Career Day: NP3 will be hosting our annual 7th grade Career Day for 7th grade students on Wed Nov 1! We are looking for parent volunteers to make short presentations to our students on their own professions/jobs, while educating the NP3 students of the daily tasks they perform. If you would like to volunteer without presenting we would love you to help with lunch donations, set-up or clean-up. Pizza will be sold after school on Sep 7 for $1 a slice. Q1 Rally: MS students will participate in their first rally of the year on Fri Sep 8!
