Week of October 30th Due: Friday November 03, 2017
FOCUS: This week, we will be focusing on the procedural side of our unit. Students will know how to use slope and intercept to create an equation from a table, graph, or real world situation, as well as connecting all representations to each other. ASSIGNMENTS: Monday: Graphing from an equation Tuesday: None! Happy Halloween! ASSESSMENTS: Formative Assessment on Thursday. Students will need to know how to graph a line using a table and an equation, and an equation from a table and a graph.

Week of October 23rd Due: Friday October 27, 2017
Overall, great job on the summative last week! FOCUS: This week, we will focus on connecting patterns and real world situations to a table of values and an equation that represents relationships between quantities. Students will be able to create a table of values and find an equation given a pattern or a real world situation. They will know they have done this when they can explain how the growth and starting point relate to the equation. ASSIGNMENTS: Monday: Tables from Equations ASSESSMENTS: Formative assessment this Thursday on connecting a real world situation to its table and equation.

Week of September 5th Due: Friday September 08, 2017
Wow! We've been in school a whole month now! During that time, we've learned two thirds of the standards that will be on our summative. We have learned how to estimate and compare square roots, as well as use properties of exponents to multiply, divide, and use powers with exponents of the same base. This week, we will extend our understanding of exponents to learn a new skill. FOCUS: This week, we will learn and apply scientific notation. Students will write numbers in scientific notation and apply it to multiplication and division of numbers that use scientific notation. They will know they've done this when they apply the rules of exponents to scientific notation. ASSIGNMENTS: Students will largely focus on review this week. Assignments TBA. ASSESSMENTS: Formative assessment this Thursday on scientific notation. Future summative (not this week) will be on three standards: Estimation and comparison of irrational numbers, exponents, and scientific notation

Week of August 28th Due: Friday September 01, 2017
FOCUS: This week, we will be multiplying and dividing exponents with the same base. We will also find exponents to the power of other exponents. ASSIGNMENTS: Monday: Exponents with Multiplication and Division (worksheet) Tuesday: Power Property (worksheet) ASSESSMENT: Students have a formative assessment on Thursday, August 31st. No summative this week; there may be a summative next week!

Week of August 21st Due: Friday August 25, 2017
FOCUS: This week, we will be working on estimating irrational numbers. Students will explain the difference between a rational number and an irrational number, both in definition and in how they are expressed in decimal form. They will approximate square roots to the nearest tenth.

ASSIGNMENTS: Students will be assigned about twenty minutes of homework each night this week. These assignments are practice of skills they have learned in class.

ASSESSMENTS: Students have a formative assessment on Thursday, August 24th. No summative this week!
