The vision of NP3 K-12 is to inspire, cultivate, and support innovative educational excellence every day. In doing so, our goal is to personalize the middle school experience ensuring that all students and parents are known. Relationship building is at the core of who we are at a school site and we strive to make sure no student falls through the cracks.
Advisory is a 40 minute class that occurs for every middle school student four times a week. Each student is assigned an Advisory teacher that is also one of their content teachers. It is this teacher’s job to get to know all of their advisory students really well, build a trusting relationship and follow their academic progress. The teacher is a bridge between school and home and is there to help the support the student through their middle school years.
The Advisory teacher will email home weekly school-wide emails, send hard-copy grade checks, do goal setting with students and provide organizational support. They will also hold conferences with families three times a year. Within the class, the teacher will work with the students on a variety of project-based learning experiences such as Career or College Fair, provide team building opportunities and infuse anti-bullying concepts into their lessons. Grade levels will target themes such as cultural diversity, career/college readiness, kindness and for an example.
Please feel free to contact your student’s advisory teacher anytime. It is what they are there for and can point you in the right direction.
