Literacy Assessment

NP3 Middle uses schoolwide assessments: iReady math, iReady reading and literacy. These assessments provide teachers with information regarding each students’ math, reading and writing skills, their skill development over time, and their progress toward specific Common Core State Standards. The literacy assessment purpose is to identify students’ literacy abilities, by which students meet specific criteria in terms of making a claim, and providing evidence and commentary to support that claim. Students independently read a grade-level text and complete a writing section for this assessment. The iReady assessments pinpoint students’ strengths and what they need to work on to reach (or exceed) grade-level proficiency for grade level standards. An additional purpose of these assessments is to create tailored instruction and practice for each student to accelerate growth. Addtional information regarding iReady is available at their family center site
