Great news for parents with very young children!

Natomas Unified is expanding its free preschool program to Two Rivers and Witter Ranch elementary schools this year – and families can sign up now for those or other preschool classes offered throughout the district.

Two Rivers and Witter Ranch will offer three-hour morning and afternoon sessions, so cumulatively, the two programs will accommodate nearly 100 children per day.

Preschool students will be taught by credentialed teachers in a structured setting, learning to follow instructions, share, and other skills needed for success in kindergarten and beyond. The preschool program is funded largely by the state.

Besides Witter and Two Rivers, NUSD operates preschool programs at American Lakes, Jefferson, H. Allen Hight, and Natomas Park schools. Families throughout the district can apply for the free classes.

NUSD’s preschool program gives priority to kids who turn 4 before Sept. 1. Children who reach that age between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2 will be accepted if space is available. Eligibility also is based partly on state preschool income requirements.

Applications and additional information are available at all elementary school sites, on the District website — click here — or by calling (916) 532-8985. Once filled out, the forms can be submitted to NUSD the Ed Center, 1901 Arena Blvd.

Sign up now for classes that begin Wednesday, Aug. 9.
