Here’s a peek inside NUSD’s orientation session Sept. 7 for new classified employees. Training, support, communication, and setting expectations are vital.

Employees were told about “The Next 5” strategic plan for enhancing student achievement district-wide. They also were asked about their career goals and what help they need to achieve them. Every employee contributes in some way to student success — and we want to recognize, assist, support, and enhance that.

The invitation read, “We will present on a wide variety of topics, including: District goals, visions, beliefs, and Next 5, as well as technical procedures for absence reporting, evaluations, and participating in professional development trainings. In addition, CSEA leadership will be providing you with information at this orientation.”

The workshop was coordinated by NUSD’s Human Resources Department. The 90-minute session was designed for new employees in a wide gamut of non-teaching positions, including instructional assistants, library media technicians, custodians, food service assistants, playground assistants, secretaries, office specialists, maintenance personnel, and many more.
