But they went out with a roar, not a whimper -- 122 Leroy Greene Academy Lions were promoted Friday in a ceremony marking the end of their middle school years and their entry into high school. Because LGA extends into high school grades, however, the students can remain at the campus if they choose. A cheering throng of friends, relatives and faculty attended Friday's festivities.
Principal Kristen Coates urged the 8th graders to continue thinking critically and growing, inside and out, in the years ahead.
"Each of you has built a foundation for your future," she said. "College and career starts now."
