At Natomas Middle School’s promotion ceremony today, Interim Principal Shea Borges urged  the nearly 350 departing 8th graders to dream big and she challenged them to commit themselves now to graduate from high school and to prepare themselves for college and career.

Quoting from Dr. Seuss, Borges said, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

Student Mai Ngoc Mai followed Borges to the microphone, and speaking from the heart, the 8th grade honor student with perfect attendance recounted how she had migrated to America from Vietnam and appreciates life here. “To me, those who are born in America are very lucky,” she said.

Mai expressed a wish for NMS students that “every path you choose will take you to many doors of opportunity.”
