Kindergarten Readiness Program (TK-Kindergarten)
Kinder Readiness is designed to prepare children for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or Kindergarten (K) success in the upcoming school year. Enrollment is only available for students registered for TK or K for the 2024-2025 school year.  Priority is given to children who have never attended preschool.  The program is open to all eligible children regardless of what school they are registered to attend. This 4-week program will operate on the American Lake School site from June 3 through June 28, from 8 am to 12 pm daily. LEAP Academy and Learning Recovery and Intervention Program (TK-6)
The LEAP Academy will operate on two campuses (Jefferson School and Paso Verde School) from June 3 through June 28.  The program will offer learning opportunities to deliver targeted literacy and math support to students based on identified academic needs.  Families with students with a demonstrated need for additional support will receive an invitation to participate in summer programming. In addition, our community-based partners will offer nine (9) hours of summer programming from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm including enrichment opportunities such as art, athletics, cooking, science, technology, and writing. 

The LEAP Academy Summer School program is funded by the Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant (E-LOP). This grant outlines that students identified in the following groups have priority enrollment.

• Foster Youth

• Students experiencing homelessness

• English Learners

• Students receiving free/reduced lunch services

Space is limited and capacity has been reached. A waiting list has been developed based on the date and time stamp when applications were submitted. Being a priority student or enrolled in LEAP during the school year does not guarantee enrollment. Students will be assigned to a school site based on the following factors:  academic need, grade, and home school location. 

All Things Pretty
All Things Pretty is a mentoring program focused on female students entering the 4th and 5th grades. Girls will learn about the importance of their voices while building strong self-esteem and confidence to develop their leadership and social-emotional skills. They will also learn how to foster and nurture healthy and positive relationships with their peers. The two-week program will begin on June 17 and end on June 28 from 9 am to 12 pm at Paso Verde School. To register for All Things Pretty, complete this form here.

I-Vibe
I-Vibe is a mentoring program that will help to develop confidence, self-empowerment, and pride through goal-oriented activities for girls entering 6th and 7th grade. Some of the activities included Thought Leadership, Meditation and Yoga, Nutrition, Self-Advocacy, and Digital Footprint among many other topics. This program will be held from June 17 through the 21 from 9 am to 12 pm at Paso Verde School. It is limited to 20 students. Priority will be given to incoming 6th grade followed by incoming 7th-grade students. To register for I-Vibe, complete this form here.

E-sports Summer Camp (Current 7th and 8th)
Are you interested in having your student learn vital academics such as science and math through the lens of video gaming?  Are you interested in having your student understand that video games and game mastery requires essential academic knowledge, not just physical practice?  Does your student want to be a video gamer but does not understand the true work ethic and skillsets that are required to be an intelligent, efficient and successful video gamer? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Natomas Unified School District’s Summer E-sports camp is a great option for your student!  Please review the details below and use this form to show interest in having your student(s) participate in the E-Sports Summer Camp.The E-sports camp will operate from June 3 through June 28 from 9 am to 12 pm at Natomas Middle School, with two sessions to choose from.  

• Session 1: June 3 to June 14 from 9 am to 12 pm
• Session 2: June 17 to June 28 (June 19 is a holiday) from 9 am to 12 pm

Bike Camp (Current 6th and 7th graders)
NUSD is partnering with North Natomas Jibe to provide three 1-week summer camps in June. Middle school campers (starting 7th and 8th grades in the 2024/2025 school year) will boost their confidence by exploring local bike routes and practicing basic bike upkeep skills. Camp includes a bike tour of Old Sacramento and a visit to the Sacramento Bike Kitchen. Additionally, students will learn how to load their bikes on a city bus! Bikes, helmets, snacks, and lunch are provided. The Bike Camp will operate from June 3 through June 28 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. at Inderkum High School. There are 3 sessions

• Session 1: June 3 to June 7
• Session 2: June 10 to 14
• Session 3: June 24 to June 28

Special Education (PreK – Adult)
Extended School Year (ESY) serves students in grades PreK through Adult.  ESY is specifically for our special education students who have ESY as part of their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The purpose of ESY is to help students maintain skills and avoid regression, which may negatively impact progress made toward IEP goals. ESY services are provided for 20 days during the summer when the regular school program is not in session.  If you believe that your student qualifies and have not already heard from staff about registration, please speak with your student’s case manager.

High School Credit Recovery/Acceleration (9th-12th grade)
High school students will be provided the opportunity for credit recovery and acceleration. There will be a possibility of up to 6 weeks, with three two-week sessions, in which students can earn up to 5 credits (1 semester course) every two weeks. This six-week program will begin June 3 and operate through July 19 (except for June 19 and the week of July 1 through July 5), with classes meeting daily from 8 am to 2:30 pm. If you are interested in your high school student participating in this opportunity, please contact your student’s school.

​English Learners (9th-12th Grade)
The summer program for our English Learners will focus on providing direct support to high school students enrolled in Summer School for the purpose of earning credits for classes needed for graduation and support with completing A-G credits.

City of Sacramento – Summer @ City Hall (9th-11th Grade)
City Hall hosts an annual program called “Summer @ City Hall.” This year, it will be for 20 high school 9th-11th graders, allowing students to learn about the local government process and to become active members of their community. Students also complete a 42-hour wellness component that includes various workshop topics including Career Exploration and Readiness, Financial Literacy, Personal Mental Wellness, and Resume Development. Upon completion of the program, students receive a stipend and five high school elective credits. The six-week program will operate 4 days a week from Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, beginning on June 24 and continuing through August 26. Communication for this program has been coordinated directly with the high schools since early March.

Youth Workforce Program (15 to 18 years)
The Youth Workforce Program is for students aged 15 to 18 to work this summer with local businesses with possible paid job opportunities or internships. Students will gain valuable work experience to build their resumes and participate in FUN and interactive workforce workshops. The program includes a one-week workshop series, a job/interview fair, and a potential job assignment. It is important to know that job placement is at the discretion of the businesses interviewing the students. While all students may not be offered a paid job at the end of the program, they will have the tools to apply to future jobs. The workshops will be from June 10 to 14 from 10 am to 3 pm. This is a partnership with the Natomas Chamber of Commerce and SAFE Credit Union.
