Suzen Holtemann has been selected to serve as the permanent principal for Bannon Creek after serving as interim principal this school year. “As a former classroom teacher, I have a deep appreciation for students’ cognitive and social-emotional development and am eager to continue supporting our teachers as they collaborate with each other to prepare all Bannon Creek School students to be college and career ready,” she shared when asked about her new position.

Holtemann has been a part of the Natomas Unified School District family for nine years where she has served in many capacities including principals at both American Lakes and the former Natomas Gateways Middle School. Her experience with K-8 programs, her bilingual skills to make meaningful connections with families in both English and Spanish, her knowledge of the district, and the Natomas community are some of the many reasons that make her a great match as the new leader of Bannon Creek.

A Northern California native, Holtemann was greatly influenced by the region’s linguistically rich and diverse communities, and it’s helped her in every position that she has had to work closely with staff to create warm, engaging, and robust learning environments. “Working in education provides me with the opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of children and the tremendous satisfaction to see a child discover new learning.”

Holtemann is a graduate of University of California Davis where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Education, Language and Literacy.

When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
