Dear Two Rivers Families,
I am excited to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year at Two Rivers Elementary School! Our teachers have been busy this summer planning a wonderful year for our students. Due to the hard work and dedication of our Two Rivers Staff, we are now a California Gold Ribbon School! Our flag is proudly on display on the flagpole in front of the school.
Please join me in welcoming the following certificated staff members to Two Rivers! Erica Arias will be teaching our SDC TK/Kindergarten. Carolina Landin will be working with Holly in the Learning Center, and Jennifer Mays, and Kristin Ayers will also be teaching Kindergarten. Lauren Frazer is joining our first grade, Lorrie Lewis is moving to third grade, and Barb Nickless is moving to second. We have added five new classes for the upcoming year! Sue Addington will be teaching fifth grade, Eric Shoemaker will be coming back to teach third grade, Sarah Mahlin will be teaching second grade, Zia Shepp will be teaching first grade, and Shawna Milo will be teaching our new Kindergarten class. We will also be welcoming Darrin Greer as our Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) and Kiely Nelson filling in for Kristy Campisi. I am also pleased to announce that Ronda Last will be our full time psychologist, and that we will now have Veronica Barrientoz as our full time health aide as well!
I am looking forward to the upcoming year and welcoming our families back to campus. The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 10th. School begins each day at 7:45am for all students.
Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten dismissal time is 1:38, while 1st-5th grades will dismiss at 1:55 pm.
Throughout the year, we will providing you with information on our school website, in teacher newsletters, calendars, and with Infinite Campus phone calls. You may also access the Infinite Campus Parent Portal this year.
There are several ways to become involved in the Two Rivers community. Joining the PTA is an opportunity to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and developing relationships. School Site Council is a group of teachers, parents, and classified employees that work with me to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. We also have the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) for parents and other community members who want to advocate for English Learners.
Back to School Night for Two Rivers will be held Thursday, August 18th from 5:00-8:00 pm. This is a great time to become familiar with teacher expectations and your student’s classroom.
We have added Chrome carts to increase access to technology for students, and have made significant renovations to our library to bring it to 21st century standards. These tools will help raise our students’ achievement as they strive for success. I look forward to a successful school year together. If you have any questions about our school, programs, or expectations, please don’t hesitate to contact us or visit our website at https://natomasunified.org/tre/.
