Congratulations to Natomas football stars Larry Hardy and Alex Godinez for selection to the All-Sac-Joaquin-Section 1st Team by MaxPreps, a popular online sports information service that touts itself as "the nation's leading high school sports company."
Hardy, of Inderkum High, was described by MaxPreps as a "pure playmaker on both sides of the ball." He rushed for more than 1,000 yards on offense and had six interceptions on defense. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Inderkum senior was selected to the All-Sac-Joaquin-Section team as a defensive back.
Godinez, a kicker, tied a regional record this year by converting a 58-yard field goal in Natomas High School's victory over Lindhurst High on Oct. 30.
Both Godinez and Hardy are seniors, and both play for teams that qualified for Sac-Joaquin Section football playoffs this year. The Inderkum Tigers, undefeated in league play, played for the Section's Division III championship but lost a nail-biter to Oakdale High School, 27-23. Natomas High finished 3-3 in league play but lost in the Division IV playoffs to Central Catholic High School of Modesto.
