Natomas Unified School District (NUSD) is doing its part to conserve water.  Over the past three years specifically, NUSD has been implementing actions that lower our need for irrigation water, conserve water, and mitigate water loss due to water line breaks or equipment failure. In addition, facilities have been designed with new equipment or replacement equipment such as faucets that will shut off water, toilets that consume less water,  and installing “smart” irrigation controllers that alert us to water breaks and help us monitor water usage.

Some other efforts include:

  • Identifying areas where grass can be removed and replaced with ground cover.
  • Installing zero scape landscape such as decomposed granite( DG) and drought tolerant plants.
  • Purchasing “smart” irrigation controllers which help staff to monitor water consumption and alert staff to broken sprinkler heads or line breaks.

You may notice signs like the one below throughout our school sites and facilities to let our community know our efforts to conserve.   You can do your part by letting us know if you notice a broken sprinkler line or other water issue. You can do that by contacting our 24-hour hotline number at 916-561-5253.
