While there will not be an official bell signaling the start of the school day, each school will begin the day according to their bell schedule located in their school’s Digital Backpack.  “The school day starts as the school year has started in prior years. If a school started at 8:00 last year, they will start at 8:00 this year,” said Angela Herrera, Chief Academic Officer. To ensure students are on time to their class, parents/students should allow enough time for students to arrive on time and be prepared for learning. Attendance will be captured at the start of class, so it’s important for students to be on time. “If families can picture a classroom with the school walls, take the school walls off and put the home walls, that’s what distance learning should look like.” Herrera addresses this and other questions parents may have such as what will learning look like in the virtual classroom, how secondary students should treat the built-in passing periods on their schedules, and will students have breaks and a lunch period.
